Contemporary Shamanism
Twilight threw shadows up the hills like dark bony fingers. Watching the growing, slowly moving shadows, he saw them creep into the edge of the trees like a dark hand insinuating itself into a living glove.
The darkness seemed to grip the earth, seizing it away from the sinking sun, stealing the light, carrying it into the forgetful sleep of an approaching night. He settled back slowly on his heels, feeling the first coolness of the approaching evening flit about his face in the light breeze.
The day had been hot, hotter than most. He shifted his position to sit more comfortably on the flat stone he had perched on to rest. He took off the rough gloves and looked thoughtfully at his hands, inspecting the new blisters and old calluses, which the gloves were supposed to prevent, but somehow never seemed to do.
The gravel crunched coldy beneath his feet. Looking down, the little boy wondered at the different sounds walking made on the frozen gravel path. The full moon gave the ground a pearlescent glow as his footsteps echoed in the cold. He added the sounds and colors to his seven year old memory.
Introduction To ShamansCave
This site contains a great deal of information, primarily structured in conversational format. The shaman's words are displayed in regular text; italics designate questions and comments made by others. The addition of more content is an ongoing task that will continue for some time.
To navigate the site, use the menu on the left to access each main section. The menu on the right, on the front page, displays new or featured articles; within each section where it appears, it displays a list of all section contents to enable access to the contents of that section. The 'breadcrumbs' at the top of each page can be used to scroll back to previous sections (i.e., ShamansCave/About This Site) in addition to clicking on the main section links in the left menu.
Most of the active links on the site display in lavender, and all links will change color when you pass your mouse over them. Article Titles are links to the complete article and some sections display a 'read more' link as well. Clicking on either the title or the 'read more' will display the entire article.
We hope you find something useful here in your journey. Please visit often as we are loading more content all the time.

Shamanism Classes at Shamanscave
This is not a New Age site, nor does it concern itself with the pale resurrection of ancient traditions in the name of modern religious classicism. Many people ask what shamanism is, but perhaps the shamanic is best defined, in modern culture, by what it is not.

First of all, the second attention is a name, a word, but the concept of what we are talking about has traveled through many cultures and practices over time.
Different shamanic traditions have hailed it by various names. This doesn't make referring to it as the "second attention" any less valid - it simply removes us from speaking in terms of one particular tradition or another.
