Hello all,

This forum is dedicated to all that would like to explore the past maker connections with plants in order to recover lost knowledge and to also explore plants that may be new to the maker lineage. As far as I know, most of the past maker plant use was centered around healing. My intent for this group is to have an extremely broad exploration of plant uses and connections, including but not limited to: medical uses, sources of knowledge, allies, "maker" plants. The only limitation or guiding factor, I feel, should be that we approach our exploration as "makers," meaning, using the tools of seeing, dreaming, journeying, physical observations rather than relying solely on knowledge from traditional sources.

While I think using traditional sources is preferred for general ID and determining if a plant is safe and suggested uses, my personal goal is to look beyond conventional knowledge, to not rely on written sources without seeing for ourselves by connecting with plants we are interested in and discovering our own connections with them. I also have an interest in recovering lost herbal knowledge of the tradition but feel we shouldn't limit ourselves to just what makers may have used in the past. Makers practice contemporary shamanism, which means we change with the times and it's what keeps the tradition fluid and relevant and powerful I think this fluidness should apply to plants as well, we have a lot more plants available to us in contemporary times and we have more knowledge in general about them available to us as well, which I think makes this pioneering journey so much more fun and exciting. Let's also be open to working with plants in non-healing ways, I have certain trees that I love to connect with for knowledge and connection to tree energy and that vast network of the tree information highway.

I am looking forward to discussing and planning possible field trips or inviting teachers of other practices to share their knowledge with us as we recover our identity as maker plant healers and expand on that to become maker plant workers/pioneers.

This forum is open to all students who are interested.

I feel I really connected to black walnut at the workshop.
I told my friend about it, and she and her husband made me a wand of black walnut! It's lovely! I'm going to use it for healing after I work with it a bit.black walnut.jpg

Wow @Beth - that’s seriously so cool! They did great work!

So I also felt connected to it and felt compelled to eat walnuts when I got home. Not as cool as a wand, but I was happy I had my bag of freezer walnuts 😂

Beautiful wand, Beth! 😍

Thank you Lorrie for setting this up!!
